Beams and Visors
The beams are controlled with the C Stick and the Visors are controlled with the Control Pad. Hit A to shoot one, and hold A and let go after a few seconds to send out a charged beam. The beams that we know of that will be in the game thus far are the Power Beam, the Dark Beam, and the Light Beam. Descriptions below.
Power Beam
One of Samus's original beams, the power beam itself has ben superpowered in this game. The Charged up version is much cooler to watch than in older games! The charge beam is an easy weapon to use and will kill many things easily in the earliest portions of the game. Hit ^Up on the C Stick to switch to the Power Beam
Light Beam
A new weapon to the Metroid Series, this is here mainly because of the two planet changes that have been occuring on Aether. The Light Beam send out sort of a ranibow-like shot and can help Light up areas when you shoot it at certain ovjects. It can also destroy Dark Webbing and most likely other Dark things later on in the game. To switch to the Light Beam, push <Right on the C Stick. The Light Beam uses ammunition, which is easily found by killing enemies.
Dark Beam
The Dark Beam is another weapon in Metroid Prime 2 but their solely because of the planet Aether's environment status. If you hit something with the Dark Beam it starts to put out a few dark bubbles. Very cool. I suspect it will be used mainly against Light things. Switch to the Dark Beam by pushing >Left on the C Stick. The Dark Beam also uses ammunition easily found by killing enemies.
