Walkthrough of the Demo
After you watch the story, Samus jumps out of her ship. The first thing you should do is check out the area around you. If you want to scan anything, I’ll be sure to tell you when there are scannable objects. In front of you is Luminoth Webbing. Shoot the first one with your charge beam, and then shoot the next one, then the last one. Go through the door ahead by shooting it. There is an enemy called a Kralee to scan down the hall. Scan it, kill it, and proceed into the next room. This room holds an elevator. Scan the stand next to it to activate the elevator. Ride it down. Approach this giant webbing and the game tells you that you can look up at it. Do so, and keep moving. If you’re looking for scans, this is a very important moment. Both this and the next room are very important. Before you get off of the platform, scan the thing on the wall ahead (Splinter Cocoon). Destroy it with a few shots of your Power Beam, and the other two Splinters will attack you. Don’t worry; they can’t get you as long as you’re above them. Scan ‘em, kill ‘em, grill ‘em. Look back at the wall and rescan the Splinter Cocoon. It should now be a Destroyed Splinter Cocoon and will add to your scans. Walk down the path and go through the door. Watch out in this next room! It’s interesting to scan a couple things here: if you look to the right there are two crates; a Federation Crate and a Space Pirate Crate. Anyways, walk forwards into the middle of the room. The game flips to a cut scene, and, you guessed it, Space Pirates. There’s one up on the high bridge and two coming in on a ship. Quickly scan the ship if you can, it’s a difficult scan to get. Just avoid the Space Pirate fire and you should be able to get it. Then scan the Pirates themselves and you’re ready to take them out. Lock on and then shoot a Charged Power Beam shot at them. After that it should just take a couple of individual shots to take them out. Don’t forget the guy above you. Once dispatched, two more appear in front of you. Once those guys are done for two more appear and get into come really sweet turrets. Take out the two turrets with some charged up Power Beam shots and the lasers will disappear from the door ahead and you can head on through. There’s a Light Barrier ahead; push >Right on the C Stick to get to the Dark Beam and take it out. The next barrier is impossible to get through, so get in your Morph Ball and look on the floor to find one of the two tiles that is different and blow it away with a bomb (A). Now break the boxes and head on through the tunnel. You’ll appear under a grate and see a Space Pirate patrolling the area above you. He cannot kill you while you’re under the grate, so don’t bother with him yet. Go through the next barrier just by waiting until after the electricity goes away. Go through the next one, witness the Space Pirates go into the Dark Portal and instead of continuing through the one straight after make a right and go through that one. There’s a missile expansion there. That makes 35 missiles! Go back and this time take the way that’s going forward and then left and then down. Keep going until you get to an empty pool and get out of Morph Ball mode (X). Quickly kill the Space Pirates and scan anything that you’d like: including the Planet holograms. Go up the elevator to the right of the portal and then Space Jump (B+B) over the gap. There’s a Pirate here, and defeating him will unlock the door ahead. There’s also a Pirate inside the glass to the left of the unlocked door. Take him out through the glass he breaks and go through the door ahead. There is a cut scene when you walk forward enough showing the new enemy: DARK SAMUS! She runs away. Don’t bother with her yet and just take a left. You end up in the room where you just killed a Space Pirate. Flip to your Scan Visor and scan the red panel to open up the Dark Portal downstairs. Get downstairs and walk up to the portal. There’s a cut scene and then you appear in the Dark World. The only way Samus can survive in the Dark World is by standing in bubbles that block out the atmosphere and are controlled by Luminoth Light Crystals called safe zones. Running from safe zone to safe zone will cause minimal damage. If you don’t see a safe zone then look for little air wisps and shoot them with your Light Beam (<Left on the C Stick) to make temporary safe zones. Go through the door at the end of the room. Immediately shoot the wisp to make a safe zone once inside. Shoot the Dark Webbing ahead with your Light Beam and jump to the next zone. Shoot the Dark Webbing, shoot the wisp, and get into the zone. Replenish your energy there; you’ll need it ahead. Enter the next room. This area is where you first encounter the Ing. Quickly jump to the Light Crystal near the center of the room and the game will flash to a quick cut scene showing the shape-shifting Warrior Ing appear. Wait until they’re solid and shoot the Ing with a charged up Light Beam. They’re invulnerable as far as I know when they’re liquid, and just a few charged shots from the Light Beam is all it takes to kill them. They attack by making a wisp and having it shoot something at you from farther away, but closer up they just try to smack you with their tentacles. Once you have killed both of the Ing, a Light Portal will appear. Jump in the Portal and get taken back the Aether.
